Combining old-world charm and modern comfort The ground floor of Ashgrove Cottage includes a kitchen, a living/dining room, two spacious double bedrooms (one with a European king-sized bed and one with a European queen-sized bed), and a full bath. The sleeping loft above contains two large single beds. The seven-foot lintel stone and hearth in the kitchen were exposed, and the original table, cupboard, and sugan chairs are still in use. The old stone floors, quarried from the nearby Cliffs of Moher, were lifted to install under-floor heating and then carefully laid again. The living/dining room, with its large hearth and its peat- and wood-burning stove, has been restored to maintain a traditional atmosphere. The cottage bedrooms house antique wardrobes as well as cabinets built into the interior walls. Buried under past renovations, old fireplaces have been uncovered and their mantels – found in nearby stone sheds – have been restored.
